There are some schools that are not fortunate to have an art class but our school is lucky to have an outstanding art class. Why is our art class so awesome? Our art class is the best because we have an awesome art teacher Ms. Larkin. Ms. Larkin is a huge Ducks Blazers and Timbers Fan! She also has a huge crush on Johnny Deep. We do self-portrait and art papers ever year. We are working on our first art paper right now. In the spring we do our self portraits. So far this year we have make saints and angels for the scholastic book fair. The saints were fun we got a paper on the saint and then copied a picture. I made two saints and Ms. Larkin thought they were outstanding. Then we made angels, these came from imagination. I made an angel the size of a toy Barbie. The book fair looks awesome! All the saints and angels are perfect.
We have many different sets of materials to choose from in Art. We have pencils, colored pencils, crayons, watercolor, paint, brushes, paper, and Elmo! We also have the drying rack and the sink. Some materials we don’t often use are toothbrushes, the press, brooms, and straws. Games are minimal now that we are older but when we get to we love to play them. In art we play heads up seven up, pictionary, and others I can’t remember. That’s the reason for our outstanding art class.

At Saint Joseph’s Catholic School, art classes are taught by Miss Larkin. She is very funny, super nice, unique and a really great artist. We are learning a lot about different artists, the styles and their type of art. We also contributed to the book fair decorations, drew saints that we liked, and we are learning how to create cartoons. We also, have to choose an artist from Miss Larkin’s blog and write about him or her in detail. Each student has to write a paper totaling at least three paragraphs explaining about what their chosen artist created and a little about their personal life which would influence their style of art. I choose Shel Silverstien because he was unique at cartooning and writing poems that kids enjoy. For the book fair, the sixth grade class drew, outlined and then cut out stars, which we hung in the hallway to decorate for the event. We also we took the saints we drew and included this in our decorations. We are just starting to learn how to draw cartoons and how to do the details of individual facial features in class.

Mrs. Larkin once said,” LIGHTLY, lightly, lightly“. If you’re wondering who Mrs. Larkin is, she is our crazy art teacher. There are a number of different reasons I enjoy art class. Personally I love drawing and in art we get to draw a lot, including things like buildings, cities and animals! I find what we do in art is really interesting. I really enjoy learning the things we learn in art. I especially like the topic we are learning about currently in art and that is1-point perspective. Perspective drawing is very fun but difficult, and to have success in 1-point perspective you need to be able to draw and recognize three specific lines. Those three lines are horizontal (side to side), vertical (up and down), and orthogonal lines (from desired spot to the vanishing point). In order to do this you need several utensils. Most importantly you will need a quality pencil. Then you will need a ruler to draw straight lines and finally you need a good eraser. Those are just a few reasons I love art class.

Art is the most interesting topic to study at school for several reasons. First, we learned all about perspective. Perspective is a visible scene, especially one giving a distinctive impression of distance. When you use perspective there are a couple ways to do it. Helicopter view is the view of buildings from the air. There is also two point perspective which can be used to show around a corner. Finally, when you are using perspective it's usually used for buildings, because buildings are usually drawn in 3-D. Drawing 3-D helps determine the distance in perspective. Next, we write art papers to learn about all different sculptors, painters and more. First, we choose any famous artist we want. Then we write some interesting facts about the artist. Finally we write about one of their paintings. Last, if we are lucky, we get to play games. The first game we play is around the world. Where Ms. Larkin asks us questions about art. If you get the question correct you stay standing, if you get it wrong you sit down. You play until there is only one person left standing (they are the winner). Sometimes we play Pictionary with about five groups of four people, one person goes out into the hall. Ms. Larkin tells them what to draw, they go back and the first group to guess what there drawing wins. Last but defiantly not least we play heads up 7 up. Heads up 7 up is when 7 people stand at the front of the room, the others sit at the desk with there heads down and there thumbs up. If someone at the front of the room touches your thumb you stand up, if you guess who did it you go to the front. This is why art is the most interesting topic in a classroom.

We are learning very much in art. Art is a very important subject in my view. This subject lets you be free and draw what you feel and l think that if we did not have art or music we wouldn’t really have creativity. The art teacher is one of the many benefits that art carries. She always seems to make us laugh and makes us want to be creative with our work. We just recently finished our make-believe or “wish they were real” cities.
We are also working on detentions. This is not as easy for some people than it is for others but the art teacher does help and gives us advice on how we can improve on it. Next, there are our art papers. We have our resent paper was about a famous artist. Art is a super important subject! We are learning so much and I can’t speak for others but I’m really existed to learn more.

“Your best work is your expression of yourself. Now, you may not be the greatest at it, but when you do it, you're the only expert,” said the famous architect, Frank Gehry.
Art is a great class, where you can draw, paint and express yourself. Starting last year, we began writing art papers, for which we research an artist. They are due every few months. Choosing an artist can be difficult or easy, depending on your research skills. There are so many artists out there; it can be hard to choose one! When you research artists, keep your mind wide open. Don’t have too narrow a mindset for only one type of artist, because you may find a type of art you’ve never heard of before. The due dates are once every trimester, so you know you have a lot of time. In class so far, we’ve worked on perspective, which has three types of lines—horizontal, orthogonal, and vertical. We’re using them in a town or city that we draw in pencil, to show different types of buildings, using the optical illusion for our three line types. This year in art, we’ve only used pencil to draw. However, we will be using many tools, such as crayon, marker, pen, colored pencils, and different types of paint, like tempera or oil pastel. Overall, art is spectacular, and we’re lucky to have it at St. Joseph’s.

Have you ever wished that you were a better artist, well now you can be one! Even though art isn’t the most intriguing it is sometimes fun. One of the things we are doing in art right now is art papers. An artist that I think would be very interesting learn about is Vincent Van Gough. Our first Art paper is due November 4th. There is a big change, l we have no time in class to work on it unlike 5th grade. Another project we are working on is one point perspective. We can draw cities that are huge. Although we always have to align everything to the vanishing point. The vanishing point is an imaginary dot that you align all of your lines to with a straight edge. The last thing were working on in art class is the book fair. The theme of this year’s book fair is “Out of this World.” I think I might draw an Alien or something like that. I’ve heard that some of you might be drawing some monsters. Overall I think art class is one of the best subjects.
